Fiction or Non-fiction?

Ah! The question  which is as old as egg or hen first.  Hello readers, Have you ever been in a confusion like “Which book I need to pick?. Fiction or Non-Fiction?”. Obviously, you will be choosing one or the other. In this article, I will tell you how to overcome that ambiguity and cultivate a good reading habit in your life. First of all, if you are not reading books at all, fiction and non-fiction are new to you. So let me clarify about it in the below sections. Before that, I want to ask you one question. Do you read frequently?. In this electronic world of smartphones and internet, many people are drawn far away from the books. Mostly in my country(India), people feel they will get rid of the books after coming out of the college. It is sad to say that, out of every 10 friends of mine only 2 people reads. West(Europe & USA) is better compared to India in reading books. There, books(not academic) are part of their life. Books feed experiences and knowledge into humans. ...

Why there's no prom in Indian schools?

First of all , let's see what's prom is .  A prom is a ball or formal dance at a school or college, especially one held at the end of the academic year for students who are in their final year, the sophomores. And it has students bringing dates along with them. Boys and girls in school are supposed to ask each other out to be there prom partners. (Do you think any Indian parent will allow two people of opposite gender to be this close to each other?) This is what happened when this seemingly inappropriate posters of a telugu film called arjun reddy released  Look at how the so called cultural saviors are vandalizing  the public property just because that poster is a threat to their glorious culture (sarcasm). Now, as to why there is no prom concept in India? The reason is-: Most of the people in India are very conservative and talking and hanging out with opposite sex is generally looked down upon by the society it is said to cause distractions...

How Elon musk learns Faster and Better

How is it even possible that Elon Musk could build four multibillion companies by his mid-40s — in four separate fields (software, energy, transportation, and aerospace)? To explain Musk’s success, others have pointed to his heroic work ethic (he regularly works 85-hour weeks), his ability to set reality-distorting visions for the future, and his incredible resilience. But all of these felt unsatisfactory to me. Plenty of people have these traits. I wanted to know what he did differently. As I kept reading dozens of articles, videos, and books about Musk, I noticed a huge piece of the puzzle was missing. Conventional wisdom says that in order to become world-class, we should only focus on one field. Musk breaks that rule. His expertise ranges from rocket science, engineering, construction, tunneling, physics, and artificial intelligence to solar power and energy. In a previous article , I call people like Elon Musk modern polymaths. Modern polymaths: Follow the...

Why some are able to move on so quickly

Because they already did their grieving while they were dating you. Nobody who's in a loving committed relationship wakes up with the thought of leaving someone on Monday, and then follows through with it on the coming Thursday. It takes time. When leaving someone first enters their mind, they push it away. They feel guilty for even having the inkling of that. They're with an amazing person, they should feel lucky! In an effort to get rid of those thoughts, they redouble their effort in the relationship. They initiate sex more, they get you a bunch of little gifts, they start planning trips. Anything to rekindle the spark they once had. But the feeling doesn't go away. So they start googling help at work. They keep hoping that what they're feeling is just due to stress of some new situation in their life. But nothing is helping. And that thought isn't going away. So they confide in a close friend. They go out for drinks, and after weeks or even months of...

Screw motivation, what you need is discipline.

If you want to get anything done, there are two basic ways to get yourself to do it. The first, more popular and devastatingly wrong option is to try to motivate yourself. The second, somewhat unpopular and entirely correct choice is to cultivate discipline. This is one of these situations where adopting a different perspective immediately results in superior outcomes. Few uses of the term “paradigm shift” are actually legitimate, but this one is. It’s a lightbulb moment. What’s the difference? Motivation, broadly speaking, operates on the erroneous assumption that a particular mental or emotional state is necessary to complete a task. That’s completely the wrong way around. Discipline, by contrast, separates outwards functioning from moods and feelings  and thereby ironically circumvents the problem by consistently improving them . The implications are huge. Successful completion of tasks brings about the inner states that chronic procrastinators think they need to ...
